Safire Power over Ethernet switch (PoE)
You can use a PoE switch if you do not want to use a separate power adapter for the camera. Often cameras are mounted in places where there is no power outlet, or it is simply safer to power a camera in a different way than via a power outlet that hangs in plain sight. If a thief pulls the plug, the camera will no longer work. Then the camera is powered via PoE the solution.
Installation Safire Switch
This 8-port Safire switch connects to your existing router using a standard internet cable. Then you are able to operate up to 8 IP cameras which can be powered by PoE, each with only 1 cable. Connect the camera to the switch using a standard internet cable, and you’re done. In other words, the internet and the power supply goes through one internet cable. This way, your camera is equipped with a wired internet connection for the fastest data transfer, and power. So you no longer need a separate power adapter for the camera. That’s convenient and safer.
Which cameras are suitable for PoE
Almost all cameras in our range are suitable for PoE. This makes it much easier to install the camera at the desired position, because there is no need for a power outlet at that location. Do you have doubts about which camera or switch you need? Then please contact us. If desired, we can pre-program the cameras completely free of charge so that all you have to do is hang up the camera, and login with the data we provided in the Safire Connect app on your smartphone. This way you can not only install simple consumer cameras at your home, but also all professional Safire cameras. By the way, all Safire products are very easy to install, even the most professional Safire cameras.

When PoE and when PoE+ is needed
What PoE types are there
There are a total of 3 standards as far as PoE switches are concerned. PoE, PoE+ and PoE high. So when buying a camera, pay attention to which of these 3 standards the PoE switch should support, or buy a switch without power limitation per port, and stay under the total power of the switch with the connected cameras.
